Amazon GB - Follow-up needed: Amazon EAN & SKU correction
To Do
Description
Dear WakeCommerce Team,
I need your support on a high-priority Amazon catalog issue that requires immediate follow-up on Amazon GB (I already handled Amazon BE).
Context of the issue
- I initially opened Amazon cases requesting EAN and SKU changes for several ASINs.
- Amazon already changed the SKUs, but EAN changes are still pending.
- After internal alignment, we confirmed that the new EANs and SKUs represent new product IDs, meaning they must be created as new ASINs, not updated on existing ones.
- Because of this, I asked Amazon to stop the EAN changes and to revert the SKUs back to the original ones (provided in the spreadsheet I'm sharing with you), but this has not yet been fully corrected.
- Currently, the incorrect SKU setup is blocking the creation of the new ASINs, due to external product ID conflicts.
What we need you to do
Please open a new case on Amazon GB (except Amazon BE) with the following request:
- Ask Amazon to update the existing ASINs with the OLD EANs and OLD SKUs, exactly as shown in the spreadsheet I will share with you.
- Clearly state that the EANs and SKUs in the spreadsheet are the correct and final identifiers for those ASINs.
- Explain that this correction is required because the new products include some updates and therefore need to be listed under new ASINs (these represent the new versions of the older ASINs), allowing us to create them separately with the new EAN and SKU references without conflicts.
Important
- This is a high-priority issue.
- Amazon needs to fully correct both EANs and SKUs according to the spreadsheet.
- Please monitor the cases closely and follow up until Amazon confirms the correction.
I will share with you the spreadsheet containing only the old EANs and SKUs to be used as reference in each case.
Thank you in advance for your support and close follow-up on this.
Kind regards,
Gabriela

20 Jan 2026Hi ,
Thank you for reaching out to us!
I have reviewed the attached file and, before contacting Amazon, I wanted to clarify a few details with you. Each of the ASINs provided has two EANs associated with them.
The column “Barcode EAN (current)” reflects the correct EAN to be assigned to the ASINs, correct?
I’ve attached the same sheet with my additional findings. Before I proceed with Amazon, I want to ensure the accuracy of these changes.
Column explanations for reference:
Current SKU – SKU currently assigned to the ASIN
Edit Details Barcode – Barcode visible in the edit details section
Catalogue Barcode – Barcode visible when searching the ASIN in the catalogue/inventory
Additional ASIN – Any other ASIN associated with these barcodes
Action to be taken from my end:
Ensure the barcode under “Barcode EAN (current)” is the final barcode for the ASIN
Ensure the SKU under “Item #” is the final SKU to be assigned to the ASIN
Please review and confirm so I can proceed with Amazon to get these updates corrected.
Thank you.

21 Jan 2026Hi Mohammad,
Thank you for looking deeper into this issue before reaching out to Amazon.
To answer your question: yes, the column “Barcode EAN (current)” reflects the correct EAN that should be assigned to each ASIN. As stated in our GS1 certificate, our barcode prefix starts with 5414…, so no barcode should begin with 7… or any other prefix. However, as shown in the spreadsheet you shared, some ASINs currently have barcodes assigned that start with 7… or another prefix different from 5414….
Thank you for flagging this issue.
To summarize and confirm the actions to be taken from your side:
Ensure the barcode listed under “Barcode EAN (current)” is the final barcode assigned to the ASIN
Ensure the SKU listed under “Item #” is the final SKU to be assigned to the ASIN
Please let me know if anything needs further clarification and thank you so much!
Kind regards,Gabriela
